Betts TMC Announcement

Betts Spring Exclusive Mud Flap Hanger with Integrated Conspicuity Strip Shown at TMC 2012 Annual Meeting and Technology Exposition

TAMPA (February 20, 2012) Betts Spring’s exclusive spring loaded mud flap hangers with integrated conspicuity tape are among the many products featured at the TMC 2012 Annual Meeting and Technology Exposition.  The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s new CSA (Compliance, Safety and Accountability) initiative places increased importance on fleets to meet or exceed the rules as outlined in FMCSA’s Conspicuity Requirements for Commercial Vehicles. During roadside inspections, compliance to these requirements will be easy to check and therefore an area of emphasis by the CSA inspectors.  Vehicles that lack conspicuity to minimum standards may be taken out of service and will result in penalty points assessed to the fleet operator.

Betts spring-loaded mud flap hangers with conspicuity strips integrated on the main body of the hanger contribute to meeting FMCSA’s requirements.  Integrated conspicuity eliminates the need for a separate conspicuity strip and saves weight because there is no need for an additional extended hanger body to display conspicuity tape.  Betts’ proprietary pent roof hanger design results in higher strip placement on the hanger body, which aligns the conspicuity strip more directly with trailing drivers’ line of sight, increasing reflection and visibility.  Betts patented the first mud flap holder more than fifty years ago and continues their commitment to innovation to this day with their patented Direct Flex System, also available with integrated conspicuity strips.

For fleet operators requiring conspicuity strips to add to existing equipment, Betts Springs also offers lightweight, aluminum conspicuity strips designed to attach properly with Betts and most competitive straight and angled hangers.

Betts will feature its conspicuity products in Booth 1042 of TMC’s 2012 Technology Exposition.
